What is an article component?

An article is a page of text which uses main blocks and sub-blocks to give a piece of information on a subject.

How do I name an article?

GuidelinesExamples of article names

Article: name of article: site abbreviation

If there are two articles with the same name. The name should match as closely as possible what is on the web page.

Article: Exploring space in an online event (EY)

or Article: Exploring space in an online event (ICT)

If the component is part of a distinct collection of articles a common name goes first, then the site abbreviation and then the name of the article.

(Placing the site abbreviation here allows all the common articles for that site to group together.)

Article: Claremont nursery digital camera (EY) - introduction

Article: Claremont nursery digital camera (EY) - processes

or Article: A Curriculum for Excellence (5-14) - principles

Article: A Curriculum for Excellence (5-14) - capacities

Adding a number after the site abbreviation will also group the components in order as they appear on the article page or in the article tabs.

Article: Claremont nursery digital camera (EY) 1 - introduction

Article: Claremont nursery digital camera (EY) 2 - processes

If the name of the article does not give enough information to others, you could add further detail in brackets.

Article: Cartoons (in modern languages)

Where should I save it?

Save Articles alphabetically by Tridion Name in the Generic Content, Articles, A-Z folders.

  • 'Article: Exploring space in an online event (EY)' would go into the E folder.
  • 'Article: Claremont nursery digital camera (EY) 1 - introduction' would go into the C folder.
  • 'Article: A Curriculum for Excellence (5-14) - principles' would go into the A folder.
  • An article beginning with ‘The’ would go into the T folder.

If there are several components which together are part of the same article then it may be useful to make a new folder with the common name and put the components inside.

However, each component still needs to have the full name, including the common name.
