Accessibility: Multimedia and interactivity

Video

Previously, the LTS Online Service offered streaming video in Windows Media Video and QuickTime formats (you will see many examples of videos in these formats across our websites). We have recently moved to offering all video in Flash video format. Contractors providing video should supply original footage for conversion to Flash video format by LTS.

  • All video will be published in Flash video format, streamed through our custom player.
  • Four speeds of Flash video will be offered: 128k, 256k, 512k, 1024k.
  • Video files must have transcripts and captions.
  • Captions should be provided in MAGpie generated Timed Text DFXP format (W3C reccommended).
  • There will be an MP4 download alternative.

For further guidance on video, see the Encoding Standards and Video Production Guidelines, held in the Technical Development section of this website.

Audio

Supported formats for audio files include MPEG audio Layer-3 (MP3), WAV and AIF. All audio resources should have a transcript attached.

If you have audio or video files which are to be published on the LTS Online Service and you need further help or advice on formats and procedures, please contact us.
