The partnership between Dumbarton Academy and a number of local business partners aims to provide high quality learning experiences for young people within the context of the More Choices, More Chances national initiative. The video focuses on the experiences of two students who benefit from extended work experience programmes and charts their progress in developing the kinds of skills and knowledge that will help to prepare them for transition to the world of work. It features contributions by business partners, school staff, Skillseeker personnel, parents and young people. The movie also relates how the experience helped learners to increase their knowledge of the world of work, in particular the hairdressing and retailing industries. This case study is part of the Determined to Succeed programme, which illustrates models of successful partnerships between schools, business organisations and employers. |
