About this video |
This video follows students from Perth High School as they prepare and serve a gala dinner for 50 people at a nearby farm restaurant. The students received support from a range of local businesses with specific help from a local farmer to grow their own fruit and vegetables and learn more about local produce. Students also learnt from local chefs including a visit to Gleneagles Hotel to meet Michelin-starred chef Andrew Fairlie. As well as lessons in healthy eating and sustainable development being reinforced, the students were exposed to the wide variety of careers in the hospitality industry including front-of-house support and event management. In particular, the enterprise supported learning in the Home Economics, Hospitality Intermediate 1 and Biology courses and their comitment to being a health promoting school. |
