Unity is a cross platform, professional 3D game engine that allows users to create beautiful, realistic 3D games. The Unity platform can be used in both the NPA in Computer Games Design and as a tool to carry out the Advanced Higher Computing project.
It can just as easily be used as part of an enhanced curriculum to extend storytelling and narrative. It can also import models that are created in 3D building tools like Google SketchUp, imported from the Google Warehouse. It can also import textures created in graphics applications such as Photoshop. In terms of audio, Unity will accept music and sound effects created by most audio creation software.
Objects in Unity games are given behaviours by creating scripts. These scripts can be written in Javascript, C# or a dialect of Python called Boo. Most tutorials recommended that Javascript is used for scripting.
