| Seminar description | Despite having run field courses for over 60 years, recent experience with London schools shows that the FSC - and it's partners in the Outdoor Sector - still have a lot to learn. In particular, the London Challenge residentialsm which have involved 11 outdoor education providers, over 340 secondary schools and 25,000 11-14 year olds in the past three years, have provided pointers for the futre which might have some application in Scotland, including at FSC Kindrogan. Examples include shared operating protocols, 'one stop' booking, hybrid courses and funding flexibility. |
| Speakers | Dr Steve Tilling, Director of Communications, Field Studies Council |
| Speaker biography | Steve is an ecologist by training, with experience of teaching biology and science fieldwork at all levels. Also through having a keen personal interest in outdoor adventure he has been frustrated by the failure to build synergies across both 'sectors'. He is now spending a lot of time in inner-London where, paradoxically, the greatest opportunities to develop these approaches have evolved through London Challenge. |
