SkillsActive Scotland

SkillsActive is the Sector Skills Council for the sport, recreation and outdoor adventure industry. It is an employer led organisation dedicated to the skills needs of businesses and organisations by helping to develop our workforces. Through SkillsActive employers collectively have a strong voice to government about the skills needs of our sector.

Workforce development, no matter the size of the organisation, is one of the most important aspects of business planning. To have skilled, competent and confident staff who are reliable and effective is what makes a strong and productive organisation. In addition the employees themselves feel more motivated and valued.

SkillsActive has undertaken extensive research into the skills needs and the current training provision for our sector and have developed an Action Plan that includes work with Careers Scotland, Institutes of Higher and Further Education, developing Modern Apprenticeships and working to ensure that there are good and worthwhile work placements for people who want to work in our sector.
