RSPB seek to influence education policy, curriculum development and teacher training. We also work with schools and community groups by offering a wide range of fun and interactive learning experiences for people of all ages. We believe that first hand experience of the natural world is an essential part of learning about sustainable development, the environment and biodiversity. This applies to all stages of life – from a primary class learning in their school grounds to a university group in a remote glen. For schools, we run curriculum-linked field teaching programmes at a number of sites, introducing pupils to birds and wildlife through imaginative outdoor programmes that include practical fieldwork.
