Mountain Leader Training Scotland

Mountain Leader Training Scotland (MLTS) administers leadership awards for those who wish to take others walking and climbing in Scotland. These are the Mountain Leader award (ML), the Walking Group Leader award (WGL), the Single Pitch Award (SPA) and the Winter Mountain Leader award (ML[W]) are recognized throughout the UK as the benchmark of good practice for these activities. Through its approved Course Providers MLTS provides training and assessment courses and associated literature to help leaders manage the risks involved in these activities and to enable new participants to have positive experiences while learning about their responsibilities. MLTS also provides support for various local and organisational schemes that rely on internal validation whose leaders may have more limited experience and operate in less demanding terrain.
