The Council for Scottish Archaeology is a voluntary membership organisation that works to secure the archaeological heritage of Scotland for its people. One of the key means to achieve this is through education both formal and informal relating to Scotland's archaeology. Our vision is to become a centre of expertise and champion for archaeology in education and learning.
Within formal education we lobby and provide input into consultations; support teachers by providing access to resources such as artefacts and equipment; provide archaeological workshops for schools programmes; provide information and advice on using archaeology at all levels of education.
Within informal learning we co-ordinate an active outreach programme; co-ordinate the young archaeologists club in Scotland; and run participatory initiatives such as adopt-a-monument and Scottish Archaeology month.
Our most recent work has involved input into the Curriculum for Excellence, providing archaeological case studies and learning outcomes.
