Clyde Sail Training Trust has been an Outdoor (Sailing) Education provider since 2000. Based in the Clyde, the Trust vessels operate throughout Scotland in support of schools curriculum from Stornoway to Inverness.
It is well understood by educators that learning outcomes for children can be achieved more readily when the subject is taught in a challenging and enjoyable way. Motivating children to learn, when they cannot appreciate the relevance of the subject in their future, can be very difficult. Overcoming this difficulty is where the floating classroom comes into its own. Literacy, Numeracy, PSD, Environmental Studies, Science and Technology, Health (and Safety) are just a snapshot of the curriculum subjects which lend themselves to a sail training vessel (floating classroom). The individual needs of each child can be assessed and met in the holistic environment of a vessel at sea.
Clyde Sail Training Trust, operate the Glasgow City Council Sail Training Vessel “Clyde Challenger” and is an Approved Provider for Sail Training and Outdoor Education to the council. The Trust has an enviable record of supporting Greater Glasgow schools and would encourage all Head Teachers to make full use of this unique floating classroom. Training periods can be booked through the Trust’s Website.
