| Seminar description | The seminar will look at the involvement of young people between 10 – 18 in Outdoor Learning. These young people have a range of learning difficulties, physical and sensory impairments and / or challenging behaviour I will talk about – underpining principles, how to find funding actual delivery in a range of settings. A year long programme as well as a number of specifically targeted opportunities how a full & balanced programme has curriculum wide impact and relevance. |

| Speaker biography | I have been in education since 1974 starting as a PE teacher in mainstream schools. For the last 26 years I have taught in a number of special education establishments across a range of client groups. I have had a series of promotions and am currently Depute Headteacher of Park School in East Ayrshire. A special school for 100 pupils aged 5 – 18. I have also been involved with Special Olympics at a local, regional, national and international level for almost 20 years. I have always been involved in the promotion of sport as a vehicle for personal development and achievement. Involving young people in outdoor learning has developed the 4 capacities of A Curriculum for Excellence long before A Curriculum for Excellence was thought of. |
