Outdoor Connections development programme

The former Minister for Education and Young People, Peter Peacock MSP, initiated the two-year Outdoor Connections development programme in 2005.

Sponsored by SEED and led by Learning and Teaching Scotland, the programme was designed to:

  • make connections across current and emerging outdoor education priorities and policies, programmes and people
  • research the current state of outdoor education in Scotland for 3-18-year-olds
  • develop and distribute resources which will continue to improve the quality of outdoor learning.

The programme was supported by an advisory group with representatives from a range of interests: local authority, voluntary and commercial providers, teachers, education directorate, higher education institutions, the Scottish Advisory Panel for Outdoor Education and the Institute for Outdoor Learning. For more details of the make-up of the advisory group, read the membership list. You can also look back at the development of the programme by accessing the minutes of the advisory group meetings.
