Lighting Design: General / Specials List

This list describes the component lighting states used by the lighting designer to compile the cue sheet (see elsewhere) for the company stage manager to re-light the show on tour. It should be read with the file 'Cue Sheet' for the combinations and the lighting plans.

Abbreviations used

S = seconds (eg 5S = a change taking 5 seconds)

DS/US/MID DS = Downstage/Upstage/Mid-downstage etc

HL = house lights

FOH = Front of House

= three lights from downstage right/front of house right

= one light from upstage left

= two lights, one from each side and downstage

= two lights from the side (stage left)

= four top lights or back lights from roughly centre stage

Other arrows have similar meanings

  1. GEN STRAW / WARM GENERAL AREA COVER SIX AREAS IN

  2. GEN O/W GENERAL AREA COVER SAME AS ABOVE FROM

    COVER OVER WHOLE STAGE IN TWO LARGE OVERLAPPING AREAS. LEE 196.
     
  8. AMB HILL SINGLE FRESNEL FROM BACK OF HILL FAIRLY WIDE FOCUSED. LEE 134. FAIRLY VITAL.
     
  9. Y HILL SINGLE PROFILE SHALLOW ANGLE FLAT ON TO HILL TO LIFT THE YELLOW CORN. LEE 765. MUST BE WIDE ENOUGH TO COVER WHOLE HILL.
     
  10. WARM HILL TWO 500W SMALL FRESNELS OR PROFILES ONE FOR TOP OF HILL, ONE FOR LOWER BIT, OVERLAP A LOT, PAIRED.
    HELP TO TAKE THE GENERAL UP THE HILL. LEE 764.
     
  11. COLD HILL SAME AS ABOVE IN LEE 201.
     
  12. SKY COVER THE SKY IN LEE 119 DARK BLUE / 196 LIGHTER BLUE / BIT OF RED, BIT OF AMBER AND MIX THE RESULT.
