| Seminar Description | Mobile phones are part of our culture with many children, under the age of twelve, owning a mobile device. Children are using their handheld devices to communicate, share, entertain, learn, capture and produce content but in schools they are viewed as 'offensive weapons'. This session aims to show how mobile phones, specifically the iPhone, can be used as a learning tool rather than a talking and texting device. Looking at current research and demonstrating the huge potential of the iPhone through innovative cross-curricular learning activities, this seminar will prove that mobile phones can enhance the learning process if used correctly. This session looks into the future of education where restrictions of booking ICT suites, laptops or digital devices are removed to enable individualised and collaborative learning anytime, anyplace, anywhere, which reflects the key principles of ACfE. Alongside the delivery of the session, student primary teachers will give an insight into how they are being prepared for the 21st century classroom through the use of mobile technologies. |
