| Seminar Description | The session will raise: - examples of how some schools are addressing key issues in the Curriculum for Excellence
- possible course structures particularly in years 1 to 3
- issues surrounding the literacy and numeracy developments
- models in the light of the new assessment changes being proposed in the upper school.
Since some of the presenters will be key personnel involved in these developments nationally they will be able to bring an up-to-date perspective on delivery of the recommendations in secondary schools. They will also reflect from direct experience how the new inspection models are working out in practice in the light of the changing curriculum and assessment. |

| Speaker biography | Ronnie Summers, Moira McColl and John Brown are headteachers and senior figures in School Leaders Scotland. Ronnie also sits on the Management Board for the delivery of Curriculum for Excellence, and is headteacher of Mussleburgh Grammar school. Moira McColl, has had recent successful experience of taking Greenock Academy through HMIE inspection. John Brown is headteacher of Peebles High School and represents SLS on the Professional Advisory panel of the Scottish Parliament. The session will be chaired by Ken Cunningham, General Secretary, School Leaders Scotland, and a member of the Stakeholder Group for Curriculum for Excellence. |
