Seminar Description

This seminar will explore the implications of the publication Learning in Scotland's Communities. Here we will provide a definition of a learning community that builds on evidence from inspections of 91 learning communities across Scotland. The key messages in the report concern the contribution of community providers to the outcomes of Curriculum for Excellence and the contribution of schools and early years centres to building community capacity and parent and family learning.

We will provide an overview of the report's findings and partners will be invited to provide illustrative examples of practice that build on some of the case studies within the report. Participants will be invited to consider the implications of the report's messages for partnership working in their local contexts. They will be asked to share examples of practice that help each other to think in creative ways about how they might further improve outcomes for children, young people and adults in local communities.
