Seminar Description

An update on progress of Phases 1 and 2 and plans for Phase 3 implementation of the Virtual Advisory Service.

Inputs by National Coordinator, Evaluator (Independent Research Company) and members of the online community of VAS.Set up in 2006, the Virtual Advisory Service aims to provide direct online support for educational practitioners.

Throughout its development, it has been building a community of practising professionals to create a mutually supportive environment, providing a national service for all stages to 18.

The cornerstone of the service is that online advice/support is provided by a team of high quality, experienced, credible advisers targeting customised support to reflect local and national needs and delivering the service within firm deadlines

Speaker biography

Tommy Doherty has extensive experience of education ranging from teaching and management in schools to advisory and quality improvement work at local authority and national level.

A former President of the Association of Educational Development and Improvement Professionals in Scotland (AEDIPS) and currently a Council member of the Association of Professionals in Education and Children’s Trusts (ASPECT), he is responsible for the organisation, management and development of this new service for educational professionals in Scotland.

He has attended and given presentations at a range of conferences and has been invited to contribute to several staff development events throughout the UK.
