Seminar Description

This Education Showcase event will demonstrate how we researched samba music and successfully introduced it at a variety of stages within Orkney schools.

In addition, our experience will include a Learning Teaching Scotland funded visit to study samba in Rio de Janiero in February 2009.

In June 2009 we will stage a mini-carnival for four small island primary schools which will involve real collaboration between the four areas of the expressive arts; music, art, PE and drama.

We will demonstrate how, involving all our pupils, the development of samba music can achieve the four capacities of Curriculum for Excellence. The showcase will include a powerpoint presentation and audio/video footage as well as a practical demonstration in which delegates will be invited to participate. (No rhythmic skills necessary!)
