Seminar Description

Over the past three years schools in Aberdeen have been working in partnership with the revolutionary Reading Bus.  One strand of the journey has been using animation as a platform for delivering cross-curricular learning activities that meet the aspirations of Curriculum for Excellence.

This session will illustrate two ambitious projects with a Primary 5 and a Primary 7 class in two schools in Aberdeen.  Both classes worked in partnership with a professional animator, storyteller, artist and musician to create their own high quality animated film.

The pupils and teachers will explain the process and illustrate the effectiveness of cross-curricular working, with reference to Curriculum for Excellence.  They will talk about the value of working with professional artists, particularly in regard to enabling pupils to become effective contributors and successful learners.   The pupils will also show their finished animated films.

First Light funded these two projects in partnership with The Reading Bus and Station House Media Unit.
