Seminar Description

What is it that makes a computer game a success? Which characters find a place in players hearts and imaginations more than others? What features of game play might make a game a hit? Well, it’s long argued that young learners understand game grammar and that they could possibly answer these questions. Well this challenge aims to see if that really is the case.

Scottish children will have the opportunity this year to submit their ideas, presentations or prototypes for the design of a new computer game, via Glow, that will be judged by an ‘expert panel’ with a selection of the best being put forward to the Dragons for their professional consideration on the day.

From the games industry, the Dragons will have a thorough knowledge of what makes a game good.  Their feedback will be of real benefit to the learners involved with one presentation being selected as the winning idea for SLF ’09. Come along and give some support to the pupils involved.
