| Seminar Description | Live Lesson for Languages is a programme of teacher professional development, awareness raising and resource development built around the use of foreign language short films in language teaching. This project began as a touring strand of Discovery Scotland's International Film Festival for Children and Young People in 2007 and its continuing development is supported by SCILT, The Goethe Institut, Alliance Française, the Consejería de Educación and Scottish Screen. Suited to both primary and secondary MFL learning and combining aspects of moving image education, the project to date has been hailed as a rich and unique opportunity to enliven and enhance MFL learning and teaching, in both cultural cinema and school contexts. Sustainable development of the programme and nationwide access to the resources has limitless teaching potential to be achieved through GLOW. Scottish Screen and Discovery are currently evaluating the first stages of the project and its rollout to the classroom as well as researching the prospect for 'Live Lesson for Languages' to become an active GLOW presence designed to deliver on the capacities for the Curriculum for Excellence. The seminar will be an opportunity to present and discuss ideas for new interactive potential illustrated by short film clips. For more information www.discoveryfilmfestival.org.uk |
