Seminar Description

As we move through The Journey to Excellence, there arises a need to reflect upon our current and future practice when supporting Young People in Education; significantly those who are the most vulnerable or are disengaging from learning.

This seminar will examine the relationship between A Curriculum for Excellence, More Choices More Chances (particularly pre-16) and Getting It Right For Every Child.

Within this context, there will be discussion about partnership working between key agencies; information sharing; the role of The Lead Professional and the implications of working beyond traditional boundaries and theory; the increasing complexity of our work load and the need to reduce duplication and inefficiency.

This will include pedagogy of record keeping and pastoral assessment through electronic means. There will be an examination into a range of vocational opportunities which operate out with mainstream curriculum and the benefits that they can bring to the Young People.

In conclusion, this session will focus upon policy, sustainable development and key issues which may arise when supporting Young People to become successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens.

There will be opportunity to share good practice with highlights of effective working from across Clackmannanshire.
