Seminar Description

The Summer Academy at Strathclyde has been running successful innovative approaches to learning for young people for over 10 years. In their Summer School of 2009, it ran an additional programme for Parent Council members to help them understand and experience Curriculum for Excellence. The programme was designed for Parent Councils members to allow them to gain a greater understanding of Curriculum for Excellence which they could take back to their schools and consider how best to share their experience with other parents, as well as to support their own children's learning within the context of Curriculum for Excellence.

The programme and event was developed in partnership with the National Parental Involvement Co-ordinator from Learning Teaching Scotland and the Director or Innovative Routes to Learning, Dr Christine Percival.

At this seminar you can hear more about how the programme was developed to allow Parent Council members to experience the challenges of Curriculum for Excellence first hand. You can also hear feedback from the Parent Council members involved. There will be an opportunity to reflect on how the programme at Strathclyde can help you take forward Curriculum for Excellence in partnership with parents.
