| Seminar Description | This programme has been devised to support college staff in creating a motivational learning environment to sustain motivation to learn. It is designed to provide training for senior managers, practitioners, support staff and learners in order to ensure that the implementation of the training is supported at all levels. Learners are involved in the training to give them insights into their own motivation, attitude to achievement and mindset which all affect their likelihood of successfully completing their course of study. The programme is based on the work of Alan McLean, author of The Motivated School, who has been involved in researching motivation to learn for the past ten years and also draws on the work of Carol Dweck, author of Mindsets. To date the programme has been adopted by six colleges in Scotland and four more are in line to start the programme over the next year. This session will share some of the ideas, concepts and activities that comprise the programme and the responses from staff and learners to the training. |
