Building the Curriculum 5 : Framework for Assessment

Building on assessment developments and resources produced over the past 6 years, BtC5 – Assessment Framework sets out broad principles and guidance for the assessment of young people’s achievements in the context of Curriculum for Excellence.

The Framework will be published in the summer of 2009, following engagement with a range of practitioners, partners and stakeholders.  Publication will be followed by a programme of support for local authorities, to help them to work with their staff to introduce the new framework in educational establishments and learning communities.

In this session the partners involved in drafting will set out the main features of the Framework, explaining the rational behind it and describing the issues raised by stakeholders during engagement.  They will also explore ways in which the profession might be further supported to make the changes in practice needed to establish the assessment framework in Scotland.
