Seminar Description

Planting to plate is a innovate programme being adopted by several schools and clusters in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

The initiative is supported by a wide range of partners including the Crofting Commission and four schools have been involved in the pilot.

These schools will describe their experience of growing fruit and vegetables in their school grounds or local communities.

The programme promotes an understanding of healthy eating and the benefits of eating local produce but offers so much more...

The schools have explored links with many agendas and aspects of learning in particular numeracy, literacy, history, sustainable development, Eco schools, active schools.

The benefits to the schools have been numerous and they have interesting stories to share.
