| Seminar Description | The technologies in today's classroom allow children to easily access digital media through creating video, animation, music, multimedia presentations etc. These activities encourage creativity and enable young people to develop and enhance skills across the curriculum. In Gavinburn, using Guitar Hero 3 as an introduction and motivator, we developed a project for Primary 7. This project was structured around a co-operative learning approach where children used the available technologies to create music, produce music videos and record radio style podcasts for imaginary bands they have created. These bands released their singles, went on a virtual tour to a French city and then returned to the school for their very own music awards 'The Gavins', an open evening for parents where children showcased their work. Many areas of the curriculum were naturally brought together within a coherent and relevant context providing a holistic and exciting learning experience for children. This session will discuss how the context developed in the classroom setting and share the work created by the young people. |
