| Seminar Description | The seminar will highlight the work done in Falkirk Council to support the implementation of the National guidance document ‘birth to three’ supporting our youngest children.
A working group was established to devise and trial a planning system linked to a profiling document. The system incorporates formative assessment, observations and learning planning conversations around the four areas of experiential learning opportunities of Well-being and Social Awareness, Communication and Expressive Skills, Curiosity and Movement and Co-ordination.
Staff working with under threes are asked throughout the process to consider the three Key Features of relationships, responsive care and respect.
The local documentation supports the statements and philosophy within the national guidance document and training manual and provides an example of practical application of the guidance.
The workshop will explain the thinking behind the approach and will offer practical solutions to planning and profiling learning and development for young learners birth to three.
There will be time to discuss the concerns of remaining resistant to a curriculum for under threes whilst acknowledging and promoting the importance of effective approaches to supporting our youngest children |
