This project aimed to improve the oral health of children in South Ayrshire.
More specifically, the aim was to meet the national target set in the Oral Health Strategy for Scotland and ‘An action plan for improving oral health and modernising NHS dental services in Scotland’ by ensuring that 60 per cent of 5-year-old children are free from caries experience (tooth decay) by 2010.
Initiatives to achieve this target are being developed and implemented throughout Ayrshire and Arran via the local document ‘NHS Ayrshire and Arran Oral Health Strategy 2002-2007’.
