About the nursery

Strathdevon Nursery Class is a 20/20 nursery class (20 children attend in the morning, 20 in the afternoon) that caters for pre-school children only. It is situated in the village of Dollar in Clackmannanshire and staffed by a nursery teacher and an early years worker. Children younger than pre-school age attend the local partnership playgroup, Dollar Under Fives. The nursery and playgroup have close links, with the nursery teacher leading Rhyme Time at the playgroup each month. The school itself has recently been awarded its Green Flag under the Eco-Schools scheme.

Project aims

Staff and parents developed the garden area in order to extend learning opportunities available to children at the nursery.

The idea of developing the garden area was mentioned at a nursery parents’ information evening two years ago. Parents who were interested in helping vounteered. They also formed a fundraising committee that would carry out fundraising over the next year.
