
The Stewart Ivory Foundation held a series of talks for S5/S6 on the importance of young people becoming financially capable. The Technical Department included all its S4 Craft and Design pupils in a costing exercise to work out the price of different woods per linear metre.
A representative from the Chartered Institute of Bankers presented to the Higher Drama pupils on Debt and Money Management. The Chemistry Department researched the impact of science and technology on modern society - specifically how chemistry is used in fields such as medicine and modern warfare.
The 'School bank' was open and fully staffed to give all pupils in St Mungo's an opportunity to open a bank account. The Science Department arranged for all S2 pupils to bring in a copy of their electricity bill to work out how much it costs per kilo-joule of energy from different electricity suppliers.
All pupils were given the opportunity to join the school Fantasy Football League.
The Money Week main event! The school's social area was transformed with various stalls, displaying knowledge of financial understanding and capability. Financial words and terminology were displayed on the 'big screen' for all to see. Most notably, the Business Studies Department was involved in a taste test with branded and non-branded foods. The Home Economics Department gave all pupils the opportunity to do a 'value V finest' burger. Greater Easterhouse Money Advice Project distributed money diaries to all pupils to help them keep a record of their spending.
