St Margaret’s High School is a designated Sports Comprehensive with a school roll of 1350 pupils. There is an emphasis on health and wellbeing, with an expectation that all young people participate in physical activity from S1 to S6. All members of the school community are encouraged to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle. The school has achieved Health Promoting School Gold Award.
In June 2006 the school and its eight partner primary schools became the first primary/secondary cluster in Scotland to collectively achieve Charter Mark status. Across the cluster, there is a strong focus on the quality of young people’s learning experiences and associated improvement planning processes. All nine schools plan collaboratively to enable children to move smoothly between establishments, building upon prior learning and achievement.
The new curriculum and timetable structure was introduced from August 2006, following a major consultation exercise over session 2004-05. The development has been informed throughout by contributions from cluster staff, pupils, parents and external partners. The cluster continues to develop as a strong learning community through its firm commitment to building a coherent, progressive 3-18 curriculum.
