Introduction

This case study describes an award-winning engagement between PGS Production Services and Kincorth Academy in Aberdeen.

Aims

The business-school link is designed to:

  • help give greater focus to and show the relevance of the curriculum to career prospects
  • bring the worlds of school and work into a shared context
  • provide facilities for the school which might otherwise be unavailable.

The underlying philosophy aims to: 

  • raise awareness of the business community’s aspirations for training
  • enhance the school’s reputation.

Methods

The case study below is designed to share the lessons learned, encourage and help others to start their own schemes and outline the benefits and potential pitfalls which may be encountered.

Outcomes

The link which has been established between business and education is an example of co-operation which has exceeded all expectations and has brought benefits to both the school and the company.
