Mr Eadie studied at Strathclyde University and has been teaching at the Nicolson Institute for 26 years. He is currently teaching S1-S4 pupils.
Mr Eadie’s special area of responsibility is audio-visual studies. He has a particular interest in music technology and enjoys teaching the subject.
Mr Eadie has a Diploma in Educational Technology from Jordanhill College. He has had Masterclass training and has also done various other short ICT courses. He uses ICT on a regular basis in his teaching.
The Nicolson Institute in Stornoway, on the Isle of Lewis, is a modern two-storey building and is the only secondary school on the island.
There are 1040 pupils in the school, 80 of these have free school lunches and 20 of whom are recorded as having special educational needs. There are three pupils with English as their second language. The average length of teacher service is 15 years.
There are 300 computers in the school, one or more in each classroom. The departments of computing, business studies and technology each have dedicated ICT rooms.
The school has a part-time ICT co-ordinator who is very supportive. ICT training is available for staff, with specific courses on school-based software applications.
