East Ayrshire Higher French revision

A series of Higher French revision podcasts. There will be five 15-minute episodes covering main aspects of the exam including tips on listening and translation, useful content for Directed Writing, and some listening practice too.

Podcast Academie Rouen

The Academie Rouen podcasts are a collection produced by primary students in France and North America. They cover themes such as the environment, racism, literature, cinema, science and sport.

VerbCast

VerbCast from Partners in Excellence (PiE) covers all regular and 20 common irregular verbs in the present, perfect, imperfect and future tenses, and uses innovative relaxation and visualisation techniques. Coffee Break Spanish

Radio Lingua's flagship podcast, Coffee Break Spanish, will help you learn Spanish in a relaxing and encouraging way. Your host Mark Pentleton is an experienced teacher of Spanish and you can join his co-host Kara who is learning alongside the listeners.

InstaSpanish

Through the website you can get help on the InstaSpanish discussion forums and even ask Stacey to cover certain points in her next podcast. There’s plenty of listening comprehension in there for more advanced classes and some beginners' grammar and vocabulary. Listen via the InstaSpanish website or find it in iTunes.

LearnItalianPod

Lots of help and the option to contact the maker of the podcast via the Learn Italian Pod website. This is a very popular learning resource, graded at times for intermediate levels but highly accessible if used progressively from Show 1.

From Mark Pentleton's Radio Lingua, creators of the world's most popular education podcast Coffee Break Spanish, come two new podcasts for learners looking for a quick daily fix of language.

My Daily Phrase - German

These 2- or 3-minute podcasts can be an interesting and fun way for kids to learn the basics of a language over three months in addition to work in class. You could use them in class or let the students know they exist for their own use at home.


German podcasts

GerGerman

The GerGerman podcast is suitable for Higher and Advanced Higher, covering such subjects as the relative pronoun, possession and linking verbs.

Schlaflos in Muenchen

Probably the most well-known German language podcast and not specifically for learners. Annik talks though some of the fun things in her life in a very clear podcast, ideal for Advanced Higher listening material – or for teachers wanting to listen to authentic German. MyGermanClass

This video podcast carries subtitles in German to accompany the slowly spoken German. Subjects vary for each episode, but this makes for some entertaining listening for pleasure. The video podcast is free; supplementary help on the MyGermanClass website comes at a cost.

Let’s speak German

A daily dose of German tongue twisters or language oddities. Entertaining, and it takes up 15 seconds of your day. Accessible through iTunes or the Learn in German website, which also contains the written text of what was said.
