
The Lets Play Maths initiative came about as a result of endeavouring to improve and develop further the transition process between the nursery class and Primary 1, thus ensuring continuity and progression in the learning process. Arrangements were made for a series of visits by Primary 1 children to the nursery whilst pre-school nursery children simultaneously visited classes.
Nursery children were given the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the school environment prior to transition, thus encouraging greater confidence. Primary 1 children were afforded opportunities to support the nursery children in their learning and explore the nursery environment to build on their knowledge and skills during play sessions.
