Alan Craw studied at Jordanhill College and has been teaching for 16 years – all at Annan Academy. He is the curriculum leader in physical education and health and food technology. Alan has developed his ICT skills through personal experimentation, helped by New Opportunities Fund (NOF) in-school training and a Masterclass course.
Alan’s use of ICT in his teaching is limited due to the nature of his subject, but he uses it ‘as often as is practically useful’ for promoting teaching and learning.
Annan Academy is located in the town of Annan in Dumfries and Galloway. There are 1145 pupils from a rural catchment area. 24 pupils are recorded as having special educational needs and 61 have free school lunches.
The school has 300 workstations plus 21 laptops and 40 stand-alone PCs. There are eight resource rooms with a number of workstations in each. The ICT coordinator is part time. New Opportunities Fund (NOF) training is available to staff.
