Introduction: Producing yearbooks on CD-ROM

Susan Dunn, a P7 teacher, is working with the Midlothian ICT development team to help her pupils to produce yearbooks on CD-ROM. The material will include scanned images of their favourite work, digital stills and digital video clips. In the class today, the pupils are shown how to edit their video clips using Pinnacle editing software.

Teacher profile

Ms Dunn studied at Moray House and has been teaching for five years – all at Hawthornden Primary School. She is currently teaching a P7 class.

Susan uses ICT very extensively in all areas of the curriculum. She has had New Opportunities Fund (NOF) training and has done in-service courses in ICT.


School profile

Hawthornden Primary School is in the suburbs to the south of Edinburgh. There are 320 pupils, 20 of these are registered as having special educational needs and 61 of these have free school lunches.

The school has a dedicated ICT suite with 14 PCs. There are 19 additional PCs, with one in every classroom. The principal teacher acts as ICT co-ordinator. In-service training in ICT is available from Midlothian Council and several staff are Masterclass participants.
