PowerPoint presentations about energy

Introduction PowerPoint presentations

Neil Woodcock is a technical teacher at Jedburgh Grammar School. He uses a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation to teach Standard Grade technological studies to his S3 pupils. In this lesson, he is covering different forms of energy, such as solar energy and fossil fuels. Neil has been using this teaching method for the past year and he finds it a very efficient way of delivering a lesson that can otherwise be quite dry.

Teacher profile

Neil Woodcock has been teaching for four years, in two different schools. He is currently teaching craft design and technological studies to 11-18 year-old pupils at Jedburgh Grammar School.

Neil uses ICT extensively in his lessons. He uses the data projector and PowerPoint presentation in almost every lesson. He comments that this technology is proving to be invaluable for the subjects that he teaches, which can sometimes be quite ‘dry’ for the pupils. Above all, Neil sees the interactive element of the technology as crucial to his teaching. This enables him to draw pupils’ attention to the content in a much more efficient way compared to the old pen and paper method.

Neil recently attended a Masterclass programme, but otherwise has developed most of his ICT skills by practising and exploring the technology in his own time.
