The Primary 5 environmental studies topic was the Scottish Wars of Independence.
The Enterprise Project was to present the work to family and friends in the form of a museum.
The children took responsibility for planning and displaying the work. They assumed the roles of people who work in a museum, such as curator and guide.
The following are some on the areas the curriculum covered:

The children produced posters. These were displayed throughout the museum.
They produced booklets containing information they had discovered. They wrote stories set in a castle and presented them in the shape of a castle.
The children made catapults for the catapult competition. They built castles, which had to have a well, portcullis, drawbridge and battlements.
The internet was used to gather information. The children produced certificates for parents’ competitions. There were photographs recording museum preparations and the visit to Bannockburn Heritage Centre and Stirling Castle.
Meetings were held to decide what form the museum would take and to allocate responsibilities. They decided on appropriate labels for displays, the layout of the exhibition, the date and duration of the visit and whether refreshments should be provided. Simple minutes were taken to record the meetings.
