Kersland School - a night at the Oscars

Cowboys and indians

In response to Curriculum for Excellence the headteacher and staff planned to build on previous experience of interdisciplinary learning, and decided to use a common theme across the school for one term. The theme chosen was the ‘Oscars’ and involved each class choosing a film as the main focus for their learning. This approach conveys the positive ethos of the school, where staff, pupils and parents contribute to a learning environment that is educational, motivating, exciting and fun.

Movie titles chosen were:

  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • William Wallace (Braveheart)
  • Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
  • The Circus (Dumbo)
  • Night at the Museum x 2
  • Mary Poppins x 2
  • Monsters Inc.
