James Bond's secret mission to keep fit

Introduction

Newmore Primary School is a small rural primary school, situated three miles from Invergordon. The current school roll is 52 and there are three classes: P1-3, P4-5 and P6-7.

The school this year has been working within Curriculum for Excellence to develop the health and wellbeing experiences and outcomes as part of its development plan.

With no access to a gym hall and limited resources, they looked for more creative ways to capture the interests and imagination of the children. The 'James Bond mission' health topic started after the February break and will continue into the first half of the final term.

The project has been primarily implemented with the P4-5 class as part of an enterprise topic. This however has been extended where possible and there are further plans to extend into both the lower and upper stages of the school.

As well as input from the P4-5 class teacher, people from outside the school such as the local Active Schools co-ordinator and parents have been paramount in enriching the learning of the children.
