Home economics - aiming for excellence
HMIE and LTS organised a conference that took place on Thursday 30 October 2008 at the Carnegie Conference Centre, Dunfermline.
The aims of the conference were to:
- reflect on current opportunities for advancement in home economics education
- raise awareness of curricular influences on home economics education in the next few years
- provide examples of good practice in learning and teaching.
The intended audience was teachers and also education authority officers with responsibility for the subject area in schools.
The programme included presentations on:
- motivating all learners
- home economics in the context of Curriculum for Excellence and Journey to Excellence
- examples of how experience in home economics has led to excellence in achievement.
A range of seminars provided examples of good practice in learning and teaching in home economics.
