Stenhouse Primary School serves the Stenhouse and Saughton area of Edinburgh. It has 12 classes, a nursery, and two additional classes for children who have communication difficulties. The school established links with Embangweni Primary School in a very rural part of northern Malawi seven years ago. Embangweni has 1500 children, with approximately 100 per class. Pupil exchange of written information about lifestyle and culture took place before the headteacher, Marlene Galashan, visited Malawi to strengthen the links between the two schools. Enthusiasm for the partnership developed into a whole school commitment to promote the link across all aspects of school life.
