Shared Sharing Practice

Information literacy using the ExPLORE model

Introduction

Gracemount High School is a small but growing non-denominational secondary school with a roll of 621, which serves the community of South East Edinburgh.

The rapid change in the social demographics of the community presents the school with the widest of challenges in supporting the diverse needs and aspirations of a complex and socially diverse community.

Gracemount is a ‘School of Ambition’, which has allowed the school to invest in more opportunities for all pupils and build on a Pathways approach to enable them to reach their full potential.

The Library Resource Centre is well used for curriculum support as well as individual study or recreational needs. All pupils in S1/2 go through a programme of basic information skills as part of their English class, and all S1 pupils are introduced to ExPLORE through the curriculum.
