Managing Education for Citizenship within the school
Gourock High School has a strong tradition of student involvement, and a history of providing excellent citizenship experiences for its pupils. In accordance with Authority guidelines, the school has appointed a Principal Teacher for Citizenship and Enterprise. Initially a cluster-based role, this has now changed to encompass secondary only, and strong links are maintained with the associated primaries in order to ensure continuity of citizenship experience. There is a strong focus for raising awareness of citizenship issues across the board, and cross-curricular events are very successful. The school runs many one-off events with the aim of promoting citizenship, and there is participation from all departments across the school community.
