Family Clubs Case Study

Fun for all the family

The key points to this case study are:

  • parental involvement
  • staff and partner agency commitment
  • continual improvement.

The initial idea of running a family club came about during the New Community Schools Pilot Project at the Irvine Royal cluster, North Ayrshire. With funding from the Supported Study budget a pilot project was launched and took place in John Galt Primary School from November 2002 to March 2003.

Since this initial pilot period there are now 30 family clubs running in the area, hosted in primary schools. The family clubs evolved from primary schools’ desire to develop ways to allow parents and carers to be more involved in their children’s learning.
