Dyslexia: Early identification and effective intervention

Funded by the Scottish Executive Education Department, the National Co-ordinator of Dyslexia Scotland visited 25 of the 32 Scottish local authorities, representing inner city, urban and rural areas.

Part of the remit was to identify models of good practice in dyslexia provision in primary schools. Two of the major areas discussed were early identification and effective interventions currently in place.

The following examples highlight some of the good practice in dyslexia provision which was identified during the course of these visits, several of which were showcased at the University of Edinburgh’s Dyslexia at Transition event on 30 May 2007.
