Building a bird table

Introduction

This project is a New Learning Community liaison activity between Smithycroft Secondary and Elmcroft Nursery School.

It involved three sections of S1 pupils working in the Technical department, Eddie A'Hara of Smithycroft Secondary and the children, headteacher and staff of the nursery.

The project began in March 2008 when the headteacher of the Nursery asked the EEO for advice on sourcing a bird table. The Nursery was developing its school grounds as part of its Eco Schools programme. A design brief was created and Mr A'Hara accepted the challenge on behalf of his pupils. The project ran for six to eight weeks.
